Hi Leute,
Ich hab Kontakt zu der Person die folgendes Lot ersteigert hat.

Falls jemand Interesse hat an einer der Lightbars einfach melden. Ich schaue dann was ich machen kann.
Code 3 2100 ist aufjedenfall so um die 300 euro maximal, wahrscheinlich günstiger.
Whelen Edge liegt ca. bei $70.

Ist ja lustig. Als ich die Auktion seinerzeit gesehen habe dachte ich noch wer kauft bloß so ein riesiges Los?
Zumal das Zeug von einer der pleitesten Städte (schau dir mal die Copcars an, da löst sich großflächig der Lack ab und es ist kein Geld da mal nachzulackieren) der USA kommt, und wo das Salz die Autos wegfrisst (also jede Schraube rostig sein wird).

Tipp: lass dir den Kofferraum mit Dynamax Speakers vollpacken, die wird man eigentlich immer gut los.

Nächster Tipp: wenn du deinen Vic dort in der Region kaufst, dann schau dir den Unterboden und kritische Bereiche im Detail an.

Mein Winterkarren hat 19 Jahre Polizeidienst in Chicago ziemlich unbeschadet überstanden. Gut, ist auch kein Ford. Und für eine arme Stadt sieht man dort erstaunlich viele nagelneue Ford-SUVs im Polizeidienst. Nur die Vics sind so verheizt, denn deren Ende ist eh absehbar...

Und wo ich schon am meckern bin: Dynamax-Speaker? Diese Mickymaus-Quäken? Wer baut sich sowas freiwillig an ein Auto?

Keine Sorge, ich kaufe meinen Crown Vic bei einem befreundeten Händler der seine Wagen aus Pennsylvania hat. Die Lightbars stehen zur zeit übrigens alle in New York

Ich werde mir wahrscheinlich eine 2100 besorgen sowie ein paar TurboBeams.
Ansonsten bevorzuge ich ja Rot/Blau.
Falls allerdings jemand Interesse hat nehme ich gern noch was mit sofern es passt.

Und für eine arme Stadt sieht man dort erstaunlich viele nagelneue Ford-SUVs im Polizeidienst. Nur die Vics sind so verheizt, denn deren Ende ist eh absehbar...

Ich verlasse mich da auf die Aussagen eines Cops von Chicago, der einen 7 Jahre alten Vic auf Streife fährt.

Ein paar Beispiele:

Very typical of the vehicles in our fleet. There was a problem with Ford's white paint adhering to the primer coat from approx 2004 and newer. At least it was that way in this part of the country. City, state and county police vehicles in the stock white color began peeling after about 2 years. Ford acknowledged the problem and offered to either repaint the affected vehicles under warranty or pay a flat fee per vehicle to the customer to have them repainted at their convenience. Well, the City of Chicago opted for the cash from Ford and added it to the budget. It never went to repair/repaint a single vehicle.
I have been covering the huge bare spots on my car with sheets of white vinyl decal roll. It looks fine from a distance, but up close it looks like a patchwork of white on my car. The other cars in my unit aren't so lucky. Some of them literally have more gray showing than white.

the city refuses to spend money on the police department. My unit has lost 8 vehicles since the summer due to age and breakdowns and has received no replacements. Nothing from the motor pool and no new car slated to replace them. We just don't have the cars anymore.

Und zum Thema neue Fahrzeuge:

The city made a deal with Ford in 2012 to buy 500 new PIs and Explorers. It was big news because the plant that makes them is in Chicago. The media gobbled it up about the city "helping the economy" and "keeping people working right here at home"....blah, blah, blah. Ford delivered the first 85 vehicles in March and then asked the city for some money. The city told them that once Ford supplied ALL the vehicles, they will make arrangements to make a payment just as soon as they found the money and reminded them that Ford should be honored to provide its hometown with police cars and that itself should be payment enough. Ford told city hall to go f-ck themselves and cancelled the contract. If you recall back in May, that's why CPD traffic section got a Dodge Charger test car for a few weeks. We've yet to hear anything about that yet either.

Übrigens, einige der allerschlechtesten Autos, die ich je gesehen habe, kamen aus Pennsylvania. Rostmäßig, meine ich.
